CHerry Dining Chair

Tom has a furniture company called Terra Firma Design in Bellingham, Washington. I modified his design to use a back-leg profile from Jeff Miller’s book on chair making. I also determined all the dimensions and angles of my chair. There are other original design decisions for making a rout on the inside of the side and front rails, unique corner blocks, detailing the top of the front legs, and the string inlay on the outside of the side and front rails. The seat frame that I built was different than the Dolese side chair. Unlike the Dolese chair I made the curved lumbar slats by a lamination technique, I did not use a table saw for this chair as I don’t own one. The biggest challenge I faced was the compound angle joinery. That was when I decided to purchase a PantoRouter to help me. It worked!”
