Project Description:
Negative Space: Shelves in hickory and maple
Tell us how you used the PantoRouter in this project:
The PantoRouter was used to cut the small, angled tenons in the lattice on the sides and back of the shelves. The lattice design is based on the traditional Chinese rustic ice-ray window lattice pattern. Mortise and tenons connect the members of the lattice. A shop-made guide was used as a template for the PantoRouter to cut angled 3.5mm thick by 8mm wide tenons. Each tenon is at a different angle.
Any special materials or other equipment used in this project?
Numerous router jigs were used to cut other joinery including: the sword tips and notches where the shelves meet the legs; the sword tips where the lattice meets the legs, and the notches where the lattice passes through the shelves.
